Patrick Miller

Patrick V. Miller is a staff assistant to the commissioner of the Department of Criminal Justice Training. Miller has spent the last 23 years at DOCJT, where he has served in various roles, including working as a law enforcement instructor in the Basic Training Branch and as a supervisor within multiple sections. Additionally, Miller served as the first supervisor in two newly established sections – Evaluations and Instructional Design.

Miller has also been responsible for many projects and programs within DOCJT.  Some of these include being the college credit coordinator for two decades, supervising the agency’s distance learning program since 2005, supervising the Law Enforcement Instructor Development courses, and designing and developing multiple Basic Training Academy curriculums. He is currently the accreditation manager for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training national accreditations, which the agency maintains. He has also been an international trainer in Egypt and an adjunct professor for Eastern Kentucky University. 

Before DOCJT, Miller began his law enforcement career with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Police Department from 1990 until 1998. While at LFUCPD, Miller served as a patrol officer, field-training officer, and detective with the Crimes Against Children Unit.

Miller has a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration, a Master of Science in Loss Prevention and Safety from Eastern Kentucky University, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education from Morehead State University. 

Miller has a wife of over 28 years and one son. His faith guides his actions serving as a deacon at two Baptist churches over the years.
