About Our Guest
Angela Childers, DOCJT Mental Health Professional (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Provisions and National Certified Counselor)
Angela Childers serves as a mental health professional at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training and the Kentucky Post-Critical Incident Seminar clinical director.
Prior to joining the department in 2019, Childers garnered a wealth of experience in various roles, such as a psycho-oncology counselor, Hospice Palliative Care counselor, working at the Montgomery County, Tennessee, Child Advocacy Center, and a trauma therapist specializing in military, veterans and law enforcement, a 7th grade English/language arts teacher and an army wife for 20 years. She specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Informed Care for Practitioners, Critical Incident Stress Management, Assisting Individuals in Crisis, Comprehensive Officer Resilience, and suicide prevention.
Childers recently received a lifetime achievement award from the Kentucky Women’s Law Enforcement Network for her work with peace officer and telecommunicator mental health.
