Anne hogan

Anne E. Hogan is a special assistant to the commissioner of the Department of Criminal Justice Training. Hogan most recently served as a detective in the Louisville Metro Police Department’s (LMPD) Missing Persons/Cold Case Unit from 2013 until she retired in 2018.

Throughout her 17 year career as a sworn officer, Hogan held several law enforcement positions. She worked as a detective in LMPD’s Seventh District from 2007-2013. For several years, she was as a patrol officer for LMPD, and prior to the merger, a patrol officer for the Jefferson County Police (JCPD).

As a non-sworn employee, she managed JCPD’s Domestic Violence Project from 1998-2001, where she helped design an innovative approach to domestic violence. The project involved creating multi-disciplinary teams to respond to police calls and provide in-depth investigation and victim support. She has held several other positions in criminal justice, including working in Family Court, Drug Court, and a juvenile offenders program.

Hogan earned her bachelor’s degree, with honors, in American Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., and her masters of science in Social Work from the University of Louisville.

Hogan was named assistant class leader and valedictorian for the JCPD Recruit Class 2001. She received the Jefferson County Judge-Executive Merit Award in 1999 and several Meritorious Unit awards for teamwork on investigations and line-of-duty death policies.

Hogan was elected for three terms to the River City Fraternal Order of Police Kentucky Lodge 614 Executive Board of Directors (2012-2018). She continues to serve as an at-large board member.

In her free time, Hogan continues to assist with missing persons cases as a volunteer of the Jefferson County Search Dog Association and is learning investigative genetic genealogy with the Louisville Geology Society. She also holds a position on her church’s parish council, and enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with family.
