Jon Hayden became a certified peace officer in 1990. He has worked with the Princeton and Paducah Police Departments as well as the Western Area Narcotics Team. He then became a deputy sheriff with the McCracken County Sheriff ’s Department serving most of that time leading their drug investigation unit. Hayden was elected sheriff of McCracken County in 2006 and continues with his second term beginning January 2011. He is vice-chairman of the Paducah-McCracken County E911 Board and also serves on the Impact Poverty Study Committee that is underway and part of a year long study in the region dealing with poverty issues. He was selected Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1998 from the Jackson Purchase FOP lodge and Citizen of the year in 2007 by the Paducah Southside Kiwanis Club. He is a very strong advocate in continuing drug education (DARE) in all the McCracken County Schools. He serves on the Certification Committee.
