Training Safety Officer (TSO)
The goal of using a TSO is to reduce injuries by increasing the amount of risk analysis and control, participant oversight, and safety awareness exercised during the training. The TSO provides the oversight, control, and guidance to numerous officers as they move through the training lesson plan to ensure the training is a professional and safe experience.
The following two video links are the TSO course in its entirety. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the TSO Program Coordinator: Al Dixon.

De-escalation for law enforcement refers to processes intended to overcome verbal resistance by persuasion and to demonstrate that reasonable efforts were made to achieve cooperation prior to the implementation of physical action, should such action become necessary. The avoidance of unnecessary, undesired, and even unconscious escalation on the part of officers is part of this process. This training identifies sound strategies and considerations for law enforcement encounters with verbally non-compliant subjects.
